Fever is considered to be at any body temperature above the normal 98.6 F (37 C). However, medically a person is considered to have a significant fever when the temperature is above 100.4 F.

Fevers of 104 F (40 C) or higher may be very dangerous and immediate treatment and prompt medical attention is required as they can result in other complications such as delirium and convulsions, especially in infants, children, and the elderly.

  • Fever can cause a lot of discomfort along with other symptoms such as:

    • Change in taste
    • Shivering
    • Excessive sweating
    • Headache
    • Rapid heart rate
    • Skin flushing
    • Loss of appetite

Treatment
