I refuse to wake up. I feel much better when I am asleep. And it’s morose. It is a reverse nightmare, wherein one wakes up from a nightmare and feels relieved. But unfortunately, I wake up to a nightmare every day. I feel my dreams are better than reality.

People experiencing good or beneficial stress feel pumped. The blood vessels tend to dilate, and increase blood flow to the brain, limbs and muscles to meet challenges.

Do you feel the same? Are you mentally disturbed? Understand that this feeling will propel you into “the zone,” that will hinder your performance and well-being. Too much of it tends to rob you of your memory, strain your heart, and mental clarity and increases your risk of physical and psychological illness. Unknowingly, people term this stage as “DEPRESSION.” However, they fail to understand that there is a close connection between stress and depression.

For example, a healthy competition at work is good stress, but constant failure and inability to maintain the competitive spirit can lead to depression.

Chronic stress leads to depression and makes you numb. You are numb towards everything around you, including yourself. Studies have proved that it’s the emotional stress that contributes the maximum towards depression. Learn to manage your emotions to become mentally and emotionally healthy. None of us can control what life throws at us, but we certainly can take charge of how we take and react to these situations. This is not something that is not innate; all of us can learn to manage our emotions productively.

A healthy stress boosts your ability. Draw a line when you realize that it’s taking a toll on you. Don’t let stress cage you and make you depressed. Talk to people if you are in a mess, it indeed helps. And if you don’t have a companion, then your pen is your best pal. Understand that you are the best therapist for yourself who can understand and mound your life.
